A common question that I am asked when brides and grooms are preparing for their special day is about what to bring for detail shots. Detail shots are simply photos of items of significance to you on your wedding day. Many times, these photos include an invitation suite, wedding rings, and florals and are creatively arranged by me! Wedding details are not for everyone, and we are making our plans for the day we can decide together if you’d like these photographs included in your final wedding gallery. Detail shots look different for everyone, as they should, since every wedding is unique. Below, I have included a list of typical bride + groom detail items. This isn’t an all-inclusive list, but should give you an idea of the items to have ready at the start of your wedding day.
These small, personal touches often hold significant meaning and can beautifully showcase the couple’s unique style.

What to Expect from Your Photographer
As your photographer, I’ll typically start with detail shots upon arrival. To ensure we capture these elements efficiently, I recommend: Gathering all detail items in a box before I arrive Including a variety of items for options and creativity Considering sentimental pieces that tell your story
I come equipped with my own styling box and flat lay mats to create beautiful compositions. While I may not use every item, having a variety allows for more creative possibilities.
The Art of Detail Photography
Personally, I love capturing detail shots. These images not only preserve the small elements that make your day unique but also set the tone for your wedding story. Detail photos can showcase the color palette, theme, and overall aesthetic of your celebration.
Tailoring to Your Vision
Remember, wedding details aren’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly okay. Our goal is to create a wedding gallery that authentically represents your day. Whether you want an extensive collection of detail shots or prefer to focus on other aspects, we’ll work together to ensure your photos align with your vision.
By discussing your preferences early in the planning process, we can tailor the photography approach to best capture the essence of your special day. From the delicate lace on your gown to the carefully chosen place cards, every detail contributes to the beautiful tapestry of your wedding memories.
